I'm running because I believe the best way to predict Sooke's future is to help shape it, with care, respect, and together as a community.

Sooke is a special place. People still stop to chat in the grocery store and nature is part of everyday life. We appreciate the proximity to big city services but take a big exhale when we arrive back to our rural setting and forested views. Those are the qualities that drew many of us here, and are the qualities worth protecting as our community grows.

I don't believe Council's job is to reinvent Sooke every four years.
I believe the job of Council is to build on what generations of residents have already accomplished, keep listening to the community, and make thoughtful decisions that serve the public interest.

Long before I decided to run for Council, I was already showing up.
Attending Council meetings. Chairing the Official Community Plan Advisory Committee. Serving on the Land Use and Development Committee. Volunteering with Sooke's Emergency Support Services and other local organizations. Helping shape conversations about Sooke's future.

Running for Council isn't where my commitment to this community begins. It's simply the next step.

Every generation has helped shape Sooke. I'm grateful to those whose vision, hard work, and volunteer spirit created the community we enjoy today. We all benefit from what they've built.

At the same time, newer residents chose Sooke because it offers something increasingly rare: extraordinary natural beauty and a strong sense of community. They also bring valuable perspectives from communities where growth wasn't always well planned and where natural landscapes and community character were lost more quickly than anyone expected. Those experiences don't diminish Sooke's history, they strengthen our resolve to protect what makes this place special.

By bringing together the wisdom of those who know Sooke's history with the experiences and insights of those who've seen what happens when communities don't plan wisely for their future, we can make balanced decisions that protect what we love while planning responsibly for the future.

I believe Council works best when it includes people who listen respectfully, consider the long-term consequences of community decisions, and work together in the public interest. I also believe Council should respect the vision the community has already created through the Official Community Plan, Transportation Master Plan, Parks and Trails Master Plan, Climate Action Plan, and other community-driven plans. These represent years of public input, careful thinking, and community investment. They should guide our decisions while continuing to evolve as Sooke grows.

To me, 'Keeping it Sooke' means protecting the qualities that make this community special while planning wisely for the future. It means respecting the work that's been done, listening to the community, investing public dollars responsibly, and making decisions that reflect the long-term public interest.

I'm running because I love Sooke and want to ensure Sooke remains the special place we all chose to call home.

Why I'm Running

With your help at the polls on October 17th, I promise to:

  • Listen to the community.

  • Respect the work that's been done.

  • Protect what we love.

  • Plan wisely for the future.

  • Always act in the public interest.

Why I'm Running with Sooke Together

Forming Sooke Together wasn't our original plan. But this election is different.

With an opposing slate seeking to fill all 7 council seats council, we felt it was important to offer voters a positive alternative.

I'm proud to be running alongside three thoughtful, community-minded candidates who share my commitment to listening to residents, working respectfully together, and making decisions in the public interest. By joining forces, we can reach more people, share resources, and help elect a balanced Council that will plan responsibly for Sooke's future.
