Sooke is a special place. It’s where people still stop to talk in the grocery store, where nature is part of everyday life, and where community still matters. I’m running for Council because I care deeply about protecting what makes Sooke unique while planning responsibly for the future.
Over the past several years, I’ve consistently shown up - attending Council meetings, serving as Chair of the Official Community Plan Advisory Committee, volunteering in the community, and participating in local committees and organizations focused on land use, parks, trails, and emergency support. I’m not new to the Council chambers. I’ve spent years listening, learning, and contributing, building a strong understanding of local governance and the values that matter to Sooke residents.
I bring the time, energy, and optimism to serve our community. With experience in planning and collaboration, I know how to work through complex reports, connect policies and goals, and help bring people together around what matters most. I’m ready to be a thoughtful and reasoned voice on Council.
Like many people in Sooke, I’m concerned about affordability, infrastructure, traffic, housing, environmental protection, and maintaining the small-town character we all value. Growth is happening, and we need leadership that puts the community first - leadership that listens carefully, plans responsibly, and makes decisions based on what’s best for Sooke as a whole.
I believe Council works best when it includes a diversity of perspectives, respectful discussion, and people who are willing to put the hours needed to read the agenda package in advance, show up prepared for meetings, represent Sooke in regional committees, and speak out for the good of our community.
I also believe in planning ahead and following through on the community's vision already laid out in plans like the Official Community Plan, Transportation Master Plan, Parks and Trails Master Plan, and Climate Action Plan. These plans were created with significant public input, and residents deserve a Council that respects that work and takes it seriously.
I’m committed to careful planning, environmental stewardship, and inclusive decision-making. I can’t promise there are easy answers, but I will listen carefully, lead honestly, and work hard to preserve what makes Sooke special while planning wisely for what comes next.
Most importantly, I’m running because I love Sooke. I believe in this community, and I believe we can shape growth in a way that keeps Sooke connected, livable, and true to itself for generations to come.
Let’s protect what we love, and plan wisely for what’s next.
